This past weekend, on the 14th of September 2023, Jake Berry, MP for Rossendale and Darwen, hosted the first Autism and SEN Support Fair. The event was hosted at The Whitaker in Rawtenstall in collaboration with Spectrum of Light who are based in Rossendale. WeBuyBricks was delighted to support the event alongside other local businesses from the area to support families and carers of children with additional needs.
Over three hours, 25 people helped us to build this LEGO® tower, which is now proudly displayed at WeBuyBricks HQ! There are approximately 3200 bricks in the tower, and it weighs just over 4kg. A huge thank you to everyone who helped to build the tower which is complete with a face, turrets, and a roof. Our Managing Director, Mike Lane, attended the event: “We are honoured that WeBuyBricks could support the Rossendale Autism and SEN Support Fair. Everyone had so much fun with the LEGO® and it was great to see the community come together”.
LEGO®-based therapy is a collaborative play therapy recognised widely as a useful tool for developing social interaction skills, emotional resilience, and confidence for SEN children in a friendly, relaxed, and fun setting. WeBuyBricks is passionate about helping our local area and we love that our contribution of recycled LEGO® can offer support to our community.
The event was completely free to attend, and everybody was welcome. If you missed out on the event, Jake Berry has reached out to the community to offer support. “As the MP for Rossendale & Darwen and also a Dad to a child with Additional Educational Needs, I am acutely aware of the difficulties faced by families of those who need support.” If you’d like more information or support, you can email Jake Berry directly. There will also be another Support Fair taking place in early 2024, do reach out if you’d like to get on board.
